About Hvillas

Premium comfort, engineered for the Canadian climate.

A −30 °C January and a humid August ask very different things of a home. For over fifteen years we have designed, installed and maintained heating and cooling systems built for both — high-efficiency furnaces, cold-climate heat pumps and air quality systems, fitted by our own licensed technicians. No subcontractors.

Testimonials

What Our Customers Say

Real jobs in real Canadian homes and businesses — furnace swaps in January, rooftop units in July, and the maintenance visits that keep both out of trouble.

Our furnace quit on the coldest night of January. Hvillas had a technician at the door before midnight, and a new high-efficiency unit in the basement two days later. They walked us through the rebate paperwork line by line.

Homeowner, Ottawa

We cannot close the café for a week, and we did not have to. The crew worked around our hours, kept the dining room open throughout, and the new rooftop unit is quiet enough that customers never notice it running.

Priya Raghunathan

Priya Raghunathan

Café owner, Toronto

They talked us out of the bigger system we thought we needed and sized a cold-climate heat pump properly instead. Two winters in, the house holds temperature and our gas bill is a fraction of what it was.

Homeowner, Mississauga

I manage eleven buildings and Hvillas services every one of them. Same technicians each visit, reports filed the day of, and in four years I have not had a single emergency call go unanswered.

FAQ

Answers before you book

The questions our office takes most often, answered the way a technician would answer them on the phone.

Once a year, before the heating season starts. An annual inspection catches a cracked heat exchanger or a failing igniter while it is still a repair rather than a 2 a.m. replacement — and nearly every manufacturer requires documented annual service to keep the warranty valid.

Cold-climate models do. Today's units keep producing usable heat well below −25 °C, and we pair them with a backup heat source for the handful of days each winter that go colder. The important part is sizing and the switch-over point — a heat pump set up for a milder climate is what gives them a bad reputation here.

With a heat-loss and heat-gain calculation to CSA F280 — square footage, insulation levels, window area and orientation, air tightness and your local design temperature. We never size from a rule of thumb. An oversized furnace short-cycles, wears out early and leaves the house unevenly heated.

A straight furnace or air conditioner replacement is usually a single day, and we leave the heat on overnight if anything runs long. Adding ductwork, converting to a heat pump or fitting an HRV takes two to three days. You get the schedule in writing before we start.

Often, yes — federal and provincial efficiency programs both offer them, and the amounts and eligibility rules change from year to year. We check which programs your upgrade currently qualifies for, tell you the amount before you commit, and prepare the paperwork with the invoice.

You are told the price before any work begins, including nights, weekends and holidays. We quote the job, not the hour, so a repair that takes longer than expected does not grow the invoice. Our line is answered by a technician around the clock, every day of the year.
